Dr. Alberto Herreros de Tejada recently participated in the third space endoscopic digestive perforation closure and hydrodissection course. The course took place on 21 and 22 September 2023 at the Hospital de Poniente (Almería). There he gave a dissertation on special devices used in endoscopic submucosal dissection and performed a live demonstrative procedure.
Endoscopic submucosal dissection allows the treatment of large polyps or early-stage neoplasms in different digestive organs (oesophagus, stomach, colon and rectum). This procedure stands out for its ability to perform en bloc resection, removing all lesions at once.
This practice is also used to remove polyps that have not been successfully removed by other methods. For example, those with signs of chronic intestinal disease, those larger than 4cm, and those that are flat or depressed in shape.
