Endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) is an advanced technique for the resection (removal/extraction) of lesions in the oesophagus, stomach, colon, and rectum. Its main characteristic is that resection using ESD is done en bloc, meaning in one complete piece, unlike other techniques that remove lesions in multiple fragments.
